RCC Recognizes Celia

On Saturday September 05, 2009 the Roseau City Council held its third annual Recognition Awards Ceremony under the theme “Recognizing and Rewarding Exemplary Service”.
The ceremony which is the ‘brain child’ of Mayor, His Worship Cecil Joseph saw the recognition of a number of individuals, groups and Business Enterprises.

Featuring prominently at the Ceremony was Mrs. Celia Nicholas. The veteran teacher and longest serving Principal in the Commonwealth of Dominica received two awards; the Jean Joseph Award for her outstanding contribution to education over the years and the Mayor’s Award for Education.

Mrs. Nicholas is a former teacher at the Convent High School. She is currently the Principal of the Dominica Community High School. She is also President of the Dominica Association of Teachers and a Trustee on the Caribbean Union of Teachers Executive Committee. Mrs. Nicholas serves on a number of Education Committees, Statutory Board, and Non governmental organizations.

These Awards came on the heels of her receipt in July 2009 of two awards; a Regional Award from the Caribbean Union of Teachers and an International Award from Educational for her outstanding contribution to education and trade unionism regionally and internationally.

The Dominica Association of Teachers congratulates Mrs. Celia Nicholas on her remarkable achievements.
