CUT Biennial Les Harris T20 Cricket Competition Bowls Off at Mindoo Phillip Park, St. Lucia

Indra Ramsingh-Geoffroy – Deputy Chairman, CUT Public Relations Committee

altSt. Lucia Teachers Union (SLTU) will be hosts of the Caribbean Union of Teachers' (CUT) Biennial Les Harris T20 Cricket Competition which bowls off from Friday April 5 to Sunday April 7, 2013.

The participating teams, which begin arriving from Wednesday April 3, are defending champions Jamaica, Barbados, runners up 2011 Bermuda, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and hosts St. Lucia.

The Three-day tournament is expected to be highly competitive and involves teacher cricketers who are members of the CUT units. In 2011, the competition missed the rivalry between Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados; their participation this year would definitely add to the competition.

Day One of the competition bowls off at 9:30 am at Mindoo Phillip Park with a Group A match, Guyana vs. Jamaica. Trinidad & Tobago faces arch rivals Barbados at the same venue at 2:00pm in the first Group B encounter. Gros Islet Recreation Ground will feature a day/night Group A game; Jamaica versus hosts St. Lucia beginning at 5:00pm.

Day Two begins at Mindoo Phillip Park with a Group B fixture, Bermuda vs. Barbados at 9:00am and a Group A match, Guyana vs. St. Lucia at 2:00pm. The last game of the preliminary round features a day/night feature at Gros Islet, Bermuda vs. Trinidad and Tobago.

Day Three will see action in the semi finals, Winner of Group A vs. Runners up in Group B at Gros Islet at 9:00am and the Winner of Group B vs. the Runners up in Group A at Mindoo Phillip.

Tournament finalists will play the final in a day/night feature at Gros Islet beginning at 2:00pm.

The SLTU is all set for an exciting competition, friendly rivalry and camaraderie. Players will leave St. Lucia not only with trophies and prizes, but with renewed and new friendships. The 3rd Vice President of the Caribbean Union of Teachers, Mr. Julian Monrose (who is also President of the SLTU) and the SLTU organizing committee must be quite happy to be able to host this tournament in the lovely and sunny isle of St. Lucia.

Who will win the title in 2013? Anyone's bet!!!
